Post Image 1

In our current political and social climate, African American born-again Christians are politically and socially firmly planted in two different worlds that are at war with each other. In the current political and social climate, what it means to be African American is different and at times conflicts with what it means to be a born-again Christian. These differences appear to create a political and cultural dilemma for African-American born-again Christians, in reconcilining race and faith in the context of politics and culture. This book analyzes the relationship between race and faith in the context of politics and culture for African American Born-Again Christians, by asking seven practical, provocative and pertinent questions.

This study: Race, Faith & Politics: 7 Questions Every African American Christian Much Answer in politcs, The Dilemma, The Deal Breakers and the New Direction is broken down into three sections: The first section analyzes the dilemma historically, theologically, politically and culturally. The second section called the Deal-Breakers, qualitatively analyzes four issues of great significance in our society through the lens of race and faith. The review of the four issues will filter into the final section of the book, the New Direction. In this section, Christopher Signil develops a model of political participation for African American Christian voters where both race based and faith based concerns are balanced and one does not suffer because of the other.
